Nightwind's Words of Wisdom:
Well, since there will one day be a whole shrine devoted to Prowl on the site here, I won't wax rhapsodic about my boy too much here. I'll just leave the profile from the old site...
On the cartoon, Prowl's the character who isn't there, pretty much. I mean, he's there in the sense of he's in the show, yes. He's usually shown in "group shots" on the show. But he never gets to do much of anything, other than in "Roll For It," which is, in my opinion, a crying shame. Still, when he does actually have some lines in the cartoon, Prowl comes across as the strong, quiet, but eminently dependable type. He's not flashy, not given to outbursts of emotion, whether you're talking outburts of goofiness or anger or outrage or even just loopy laughter. He's not a "hero" hero, but he exudes a quiet, "you can lean on me" kind of strength. He's a soothing island of logic and calm amongst the pack of wacky and flashy characters like Jazz and Bluestreak and Cliffjumper and Sideswipe, et. al. that populates Autobot Headquarters early on in the series. And, on top of that, he's a police car...and I love a man in "uniform." ;)
In fact, I've noticed of late that Prowl tends to be popular with the female Transfans, in general...Is it the "cop" angle, I wonder? Or is it that tantalizing emotional reserve? Or is it both? Or something else? Whatever it is for everyone else, to me personally, Prowl has the same sort of appeal that Spock on Star Trek has--He's calm, sturdy, somewhat detached yet still inquisitive, brainy, outwardly unemotional...but somewhere deep down I just know there's an animal lurking within him... Would that someone would release it... I know that's the appeal Prowl has for me, and perhaps that's his ultimate appeal to my fellow Chickbots, as well. I don't know. I do know that he was once voted the "Sexiest Transformer," though.... He was! I swear! And I ain't arguing! :D
The Official Word:
Profile: He is quiet, competent, and very loyal, but perhaps his most valuable trait is his almost endless patience. Once Prowl is assigned a task, he will keep at it until it is accomplished. He works with proven facts, not imagination or guesses. If he has any doubts, he will radio Optimus Prime, his commander, before proceeding. He hates doubts in any form, and he strives to make everything he encounters reasonable and logical. He believes it only when he can explain it. On a personal level he is friendly, but not too sociable. He's a listener, not a talker, unless someone says something unreasonable. Then he will demand an explanation.
Abilities: Prowl has the most sophisticated logic center of all the Autobots, giving him the ability to analyze any combat situation almost instantaneously and then advise on the optimal course of action. For example, Prowl can observe 800 moving objects, compute their probable paths of movement, and determine the proper countermove in .05 seconds. From his shoulder cannons he can shoot wire-guided incendiary missiles that reach temperatures of 12,000 degrees Centigrade upon explosion. He also carries a semi-automatic rifle that shoots pellets filled with a highly corrosive acid. Its range is 300 yards.
Weaknesses: His dedication to logic and reason makes Prowl particularly vulnerable to the unexpected. Irrational and inexplicable situations can really scramble his circuits, sometimes to the point of total shutdown of his mechano-cortex center, leaving him temporarily dysfunctional.
Miscellaneous:
Best Place to Prowl-Watch:
*Siiiiiigh* I do love the boy, but he never gets anything significant to do on the cartoon... Stupid writers! :) His best showing, character-wise is probably "More Than Meets the Eye," in fact. But, for the sheer "Watch Nightwind Melt" quality of it, you can't beat the bit in "Roll For It" when Prowl's pleading for hellllllllp... *melts* And speaking of that bit...
Nightwind's Favorite Prowl Quotes:
"I've got the plan, if all of you've got the cast-iron manifolds for it."
~Prowl, macho man with a plan, in "The Ultimate Doom."
"All right, let's straighten out this mess!"
~Prowl bein' all cop-like in "Dinobot Island."
"Disarmament, acid pellet style."
~Ooooh, I love it when you talk all macho, honey. More Manly Prowl from "Dinobot Island," yeeeeesssss....
But the piece de resistance, as I said, has to be:
"This is Autobot Prowl calling... I need help badly... My battle computer is down... Do you read me?"
~Prowly-poo pleading for assistance in "Roll For It." *siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiigh, melt* What is it with me loving to see my boy in pain? *snicker*
