Function:
Crazy Guy Who Runs Into Burning Buildings

Voice Actor:
Walker Edmiston

First Appearance:
"Dinobot Island, Part 1 "

Nightwind's Words of Wisdom:

Ah, yes. Inferno. He's an elite member of the exclusive "Yahoo Autobots Who Drawl" club. It's a club so exclusive that it only has two members: Ironhide and Inferno. I like Inferno. No, I don't absolutely adore him, but I like him. I like his drawl. I like his gung-ho spirit. I like that he's crazy enough to run into burning buildings with nothing less than complete aplomb. And I like the fact that he and Red Alert are...er, buddies. (Yeah, that's it... *evil grin*) The G1 writers seemed to have a predilection for sticking two characters together who are basically opposites, and that's certainly the case with Red and Inferno. Cute, cute, cute!

The Official Word:

Profile: "The hotter things get, the better I like it!" When Inferno says this, he's not merely referring to fires. His love for combat increases with its intensity as well, a fact appreciated by both friend and foe alike. Although his primary role is search and rescue, performing it usually takes him into the heat of battle where he is often distracted into participating. If Optimus Prime has any complaint about Inferno, it's that he doesn't stick to his assigned task. But that's because he wants to do too much, not too little, and Optimus can't really complain about that.

Abilities: In vehicular mode, Inferno has all the capabilities of a normal Earth fire truck. In robot mode, Inferno's strength is among the greatest of the Autobots. His ceramic-plated armored skin makes him resistant to temperatures of up to 8000° C. His extinguisher rifle not only shoots a stream of flame-suppressing foam, but can also stop beams of various types of electromagnetic radiation with its own energy-damping beam. By detaching his hands, he can use his forearms to launch short-range surface-to-air missiles. Weaknesses: Inferno isn't too good at following orders, which can lead to problems in performing his job as well as on the battlefield. His particular configuration makes him one of the least mobile of the Autobots when he's in robot mode.

Miscellaneous:

Best Place to Inferno-Watch:
The episode "Auto Berserk" is...hideously evil because of the direction it forces my wicked little thoughts take, yes. And Inferno is the main reason why my thoughts stray down that evil little path. But, putting that aside for the moment, the episode is a good Inferno episode. It sort of teaches Inferno a lesson even more than it does Red Alert. I also tend to like him in "Kremzeek!" though. But then again, I like everyone in "Kremzeek!" He's also fun in "The Insecticon Syndrome," where he plays well off of Jazz, doing the low-five thing after frying the robo-buzzards.

In fact, now that I think about it, I can't imagine an Autobot who wouldn't play well off Inferno. He's just that kinda guy, I guess. I mean, if he can put up with Red Alert, he can probably put up with anyone!
