Nightwind's Words of Wisdom:

Take one smashed-up, half-dead Megatron. Give him a generous injection of some patented Unicron Voodoo™. Simmer him for a year in a crater full of plasma on a small, out-of-the-way planet called Thrull. Yank him out and what do you have? Galvatron! All hail Galvatron!

He's a bit loony and much too powerful for the universe's good, with a penchant — like his predecessor — for yelling at the top of his lungs and pounding on his subordinates for no good reason. I used to hate this guy, basically for the sole reason that he killed Starscream, but I've kinda gotten over that since my own personal continuity disregards the movie. Besides which, though, I never hated him as much as I hate Megatron.

But anyway, now that I kinda view the movie and its aftereffects as a sort of alternate continuity so that I have no emotional attachment to it, it seems that I usually find Galvatron simply amusing more than anything else. (And at the end of "Webworld," I actually feel sorry for him! ) So, for that reason, I tend to like him when he's at his loopiest and most insane.

In fact, I think The Powers That Be actually could've done a lot more with that insanity angle than they did. The whole idea of keeping a faction together despite the fact that the nominal leader of that faction was whacked out was quite an interesting concept. (Poor Cyclonus!) But it seems The Powers That Be were far more interested in giving the Quintessons a bigger role than they were in exploring the dynamics of the Decepticons. Oh, blargh! But maybe that's probably just me. Anyway, to me, Galvatron's far more interesting in, say, the beginning of "Webwold" than he is in, say, "The Return of Optimus Prime."

The Official Word:

Profile: Galvatron is the new name and identity for Megatron when his remains are metamorphosized by Unicron. Galvatron is Megatron to the ultimate degree, more evil, more powerful, and even less subject to emotion or decency. Through the powers of Unicron, Galvatron's own powers are augmented continuously so that his strength becomes so vast that his arrogance and confidence are boundless. As long as Unicron exists, Galvatron is invincible, but Galvatron's conceit and greed for dominance are so great he even plots against Unicron and hopes to retain his new might without him.

Abilities: He possesses enough strength to pulverize an Autobot into scrap metal. In robot mode, he carries a laser that emits chemically-produced, direct-current electricity.

Best Place to Galvatron-Watch:
"Webworld," "Webworld," and "Webworld." Did I mention "Webworld?" :)

Nightwind's Favorite Galvatron Quotes:

"They've all gone mad! This is no place for me!"
~Fleeing from hate-plague-infected folks in "The Return of Optimus Prime." The irony of the line amuses me...and once prompted me to use it on the home page of this site. And maybe one day, it will return! BWAHAHAHAHAH! *cough*
